Tokyo Tsukiji

Working for over two years, I chose to capture the essence of Tsukiji fish market, one of the most iconic spots of the Japanese capital.
I wanted to represent the atmosphere of my favourite moment of the day, just before the market closes.

Traders rushing to prepare the last few goods, cleaning their tools or having a solitary snack, gaze dropping momentarily. The photographs of my subjects are taken while they lay candidly, in order to capture true glimpses of life,
and to unveil the border between the emptying market and the life waiting outside.
